Women and books.

I still think knowledge is power even as Cersei tried to demonstrate that power is just power. But I’m not about to dive into the thought process behind that, I do not have the time nor the energy.

From Pinterest

I’m just sitting down on my pink rug while resting my arm on my pink table. I used to think there was nothing that involved reading that would stress me out, as it is/was my hobby; until I met medical school. At this very moment, I’m thinking of the test I have on Friday. It should be testessssss because there are about 10 courses to write in one paper. I don’t even want to complain about that.

A thought occurred to me, as they always do,-I only stop thinking of concepts when I’m sleeping-. “She didn’t read books so she didn’t know she was the universe and the world boiled down to a drop.”; said Zora Neale Hurston( a writer whose books I intend to devour during my next holiday).

The first step to liberation as a woman is through books, at least in my opinion. Maybe as a man too, freeing himself from whatever it might be. Now talking of women and patriarchy: you already know all the deal.

Although to varying extents, the shackles of misogyny in every woman’s life is a fact. You need immense confidence to break through it as the enforcers are not just your enemies, family even do the most.

But the amazing thing about books is how much hope they give you. They condense vast human experience into pages you can conveniently explore. Books give you hope that there’s better, you can choose better and live better.

On confidence, people (women) tell me how they think I’m so confident with admiration, but it’s certainly one of the things I got from books and willingness to apply. I picked myself and put on a solid and elevated plane, because one would suffer otherwise, as attacks on self esteem comes in different forms, especially as a woman.

This time I agree with Cersei when she said something along the lines of “I only see what matters” and I hear what matters only too; I determine what matters.

For example; if I talk to a person and they give no response, the only thing that occurs to me is that they certainly haven’t heard or they must be going through something. Not “they ignored me”.

You may not believe it when I say I’ve been into the darkest part of the human personality and I’ve come back out. So I know most people are just fighting their own demons. Don’t allow people project their limitations onto you, girl.

Live freely and boldly, allow books to guide you.

I should add that when I say books, I mean books written by women: fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, autobiographies, biographies.
